How we handle your personal data on the VINOvation platform

The controller and scope of this policy

VINOvation ("we", "us") operates the news and knowledge platform available at vinovation.ai and its subdomains. The data controller is VINOvation. Email: hello@vinovation.ai.

This policy applies to every visitor, newsletter subscriber, partnership applicant, and signed-in editor or administrator.

What data do we collect?

Newsletter subscription: the email address you voluntarily provide so we can send our newsletter.

Partnership request (the "Join the community" form): name, email, company name, phone number, website, organisation category (university/research institute, winery, grape producer, solution provider) and your message.

Editor and administrator account: sign-in data managed by Supabase authentication (email, name), and author metadata linked to the content you publish.

Usage data: technical information sent by your browser (truncated IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps), processed for logging and security purposes.

How we use your data

Newsletter addresses are used solely to deliver the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in the email or at hello@vinovation.ai.

Partnership requests are used to review and respond to your application and, if you expressly consent, to keep in touch about collaboration.

Editor account data is processed to manage content, authentication, and access control.

Usage data is processed in an aggregated, anonymised form to improve security, debugging, and content quality.

Legal bases

Consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)): for the newsletter and partnership requests we process your data based on the consent you give. You can withdraw it at any time.

Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)): for editor accounts and published content, processing is necessary to provide the service.

Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)): for security, fraud prevention, and keeping the site operational.

Legal obligation: where the law requires it, we keep data for the period and in the manner it prescribes.

Data sharing and recipients

Our services are provided by Supabase (database, authentication, storage) and our email sending provider. These providers operate within the EU or in a country with an adequate level of protection, and act as data processors.

We do not sell data to third parties. Newsletter and partnership data is used only for the purposes above.

Transfers outside your country of residence may occur only through our providers' non-EU processing, for which appropriate safeguards (e.g. the EU–US Data Privacy Framework) apply.

Retention period

Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, for a maximum of 2 years. Partnership requests are kept for up to 2 years after review, except where retained for an unavoidable legal reason.

Editor account data is processed until the account is closed and then deleted. Published content may remain until withdrawn.

Usage and log data is stored for up to 13 months with a truncated IP address.

Security

Data is protected by Supabase row-level access control (RLS) and encrypted connections. Partnership request content is visible only to authorised administrators and editors.

Essential cookies and the sign-in session are processed for security purposes (e.g. session-fixation protection).

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. For consent-based processing you also have the right to withdraw consent.

To exercise your rights, write to hello@vinovation.ai. We respond within 30 days. The supervisory authority is the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH, naih.hu).

Children

The service is not directed at anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we learn that we hold such data, we delete it immediately.

Our use of cookies is described in a separate Cookie policy. Most cookies are essential; statistics cookies are set only with your consent.
